About Me

I am a mom and a wife. In, what seems to me, a previous life I was a scientist, hence ‘Mom, PhD’. This is an attempt to make use of under-utilized credentials. Essentially, these credentials have trained me to question, investigate, and process information ultimately ending in conclusions. In my current position as Work-At-Home-Mom I practice these skills to make informed decisions providing a healthy and nurturing environment for my family.

I am also a Nutrition Counsellor. I have a few clients at one given time, just enough to keep my neurons firing, but allowing plenty of time for my little dictators, JWS and LLS. Most of my health related posts and recipes will be posted on my nutrition counselling website. All other topics, you will find here.

I am certainly benefiting from the “credentials” – there is no other mom I would rather test out hypotheses with!!

    Hi Jayda,

I am not sure if you remember me from the Tox Centre. Anyhow, I stumbled upon you website through Michelle Irvine. I find your interest in sugar-free diets refreshing as well as informative. I am alway interested in learning more and would like to follow your blog if you don’t mind. By the way, I am a Stay at home mommy as well. I have two girls, Claire (4) and Evalyn (2). They keep me busy. Claire does not have a sweet tooth and more often than not hoards her treats until I throw them out. Evalyn, on the other hand, is addicted to sugar. It is crazy. I have to be so careful what I give her. I alway on the look out for healthy treats. I try to make fruit and fruit strips part of their treat food. But after all the junk from Halloween – we have subsequently give it away or thrown it out – Evalyn’s sweet tooth has been a little out of control.

    Hi Jayda,
Just discovered your blog. Nice article on being sugar sensitive. Although you’re now more mom than scientist, you are still a very gifted academic writer! ;o) It’s great to see how you seem to manage to combine your house-wife and mom passion with a professional career within nutrition. I am sure a lot of Americans, besides the Siggers, will benefit from your nutritional coaching!
Back her in DK I am still searching for a job….perhaps I should do like you and start my own business…
My best to you and Rich.
